Senator Rand Paul and Hemp Legalization

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) with Eric Wang, CEO of Ananda Hemp, touring Ananda's manufacturing facility in Cynthiana, Kentucky. Since entering the political scene in 2010, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has been at the forefront of the initiative to legalize hemp. Today, Paul affirmed his support of the hemp industry and Kentucky farmers during his visit to Ananda's manufacturing facility in Cynthiana, Kentucky.

It's rare that you lose a crop and maybe gain a crop. Many of us remember the big days of having tobacco here. It's dwindled and will probably continue to do so. It is exciting to think that we could get hemp to replace tobacco. In 2013, Paul supported a bill to legalize industrial hemp in the United States.

In 2014, he and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced new hemp projects in their home state of Kentucky. The pair teamed up again in 2015 to introduce the Industrial Hemp Farming Act.

The Farm Bill is going to make this permanent and really say that from now on hemp is going to be an industry in our country and won't be over-regulated by the government. In addition to recognizing the economic benefits for farmers, Paul has a deep understanding of the research supporting hemp's potential medical benefits and what it could mean for patients.

We'd like to thank Senator Paul for not only leading but continuing to advance this initiative. Because of his commitment, our country will be able to take advantage of jobs and opportunities that can only be realized by the growth of industrial hemp.
